A fast moving storm which hit the region Tuesday evening kept the Monroe Fire Department busy. The storm brought down trees and powerlines causing major power outages throughout the county. A transformer which fell bringing down primary power lines onto the apron of Monroe Station 1 blocked apparatus bays and shutdown 17m. Orange and Rockland (Utility Provider) responded quickly to remove the downed lines from the apron. Monroe FD responded to numerous calls due to the heavy rains and high winds from the storm.
