On Friday, June 13th, at approximately 9:15PM, the Monroe Fire Dept. was dispatched to a reported Automatic Alarm at Footings Inc. The company, Footings Inc., is located on the second floor of a commercial shopping center located at 440 Rt. 17m. Chief of Dept Pat Kasch was first on scene and witnessed heavy smoke coming from the Going In Style Beauty Salon located on the first floor of the shopping center (directly under Footings Inc). Chief Kasch immediately advised Fire Dispatch of a working Structure Fire and requested a FAST Team from Harriman FD to the scene and one engine from Chester FD to standby Monroe's quarters. 1st arriving units crew, Truck 538, was able to locate and extinguish the fire quickly. The original fire store, Going in Style, was damaged heavily, but the exposure two and four occupancies suffered only smoke damage. Monroe FD was also assisted by Monroe Ambulance and Orange County Fire Investigation unit.
