Structure Fire 35 Forest Rd.

On Saturday March 4th at approximately 8:30 PM, the Monroe Fire Dept. was dispatched to a reported structure fire at 35 Forest Rd. in the Village of Kiryas Joel. Interior crews were confronted with heavy smoke and a high heat condition but no visible fire. Interior crews then began opening walls which exposed the hidden fire burning on all three floors. Ventilation crews opened up the roof which alleviated the heat and thick black smoke pushing from the roof vents. Firefighters continued to pull ceilings and walls to contain the fire which had burned from the basement to the attic. Incident Commander, Asst. Chief John McGovern, requested Mutual Aid from Woodbury FD (1 Engine and FAST Team) and Harriman FD (1 Engine) to the scene. Lakeside FD was on standby in Monroe Station 1. Monroe units were back in service by 11:30 pm.
