1999 Fire Prevention 10/6/99 - 10/7/99

The Monroe Fire Dept.- Mombasha Fire Co. joined forces with Harriman, Woodbury and Lakeside Fire Depts. to teach Fire Prevention to hundreds of children. The annual Monroe-Woodbury School District Fire Prevention program took place on Wednesday October 6th and Thursday October 7th at Smith Clove, Central Valley, North Main, Pine Tree, and Saphire Elementary Schools. The program includes personal visits from firefighters who demonstrate fire safety routines. Firefighters teach elementary school students the importance of such themes as 'get out alive', stop-drop-and roll, staying low, 911, smoke detectors, and yelling for help. Each class includes a firefighter dressing up in full turnout gear and a trip through the firetrucks.

This years Fire Prevention program was a great success due to approximately 20-25 firefighters from the 4 depts. who volunteered two full days to spend with the children.
