On Thursday, August 14th, at approximately 4PM, the entire New York State suffered from a complete loss of power.
Soon after the intial power loss, it was learned that numerous other states in the North East were affected. Assistant Chief Jeffrey J. Mahran
immediately called an emergency standby for the Monroe Fire Dept. Members manned apparatus and provided emergency coverage for over 8 hours. The Monroe Fire Dept. responded to 3 alarms (none serious) during the outage.
