9/23/00 OCVFA Parade and Cheese Festival

Saturday September 23rd was a busy day for the Mombasha Fire Co. as they attended the annual Orange County Firemans Parade and also worked a fund raiser in downtown Monroe.

This years Orange County Parade was hosted by the Goodwill Fire Company or the Town of Newburgh. Members from Mombasha Fire Co. joined approximately 30 other fire companies in this annual celebration. The Mombasha Fire Co.'s 1925 antique Mack and several members arriving at lineup were featured in the Times Herald Record's Sunday Paper as seen in the following picture.

While the other members were marching in Newburgh, a large group of members were selling hotdogs, hamburgers, and beverages at our annual Cheese Festival Fund Raiser. The event was a great success as the Fire Company sold out of food by 3pm. Members working at the Cheese Festival were featured in the following weeks Monroe Photo News paper as seen in the following newspaper photo. Members had the Cheese Festival Site packed up and back in quarters by 5pm, just in time to respond to a car fire on Rt. 17.
