1999 Orange County Fire Training Center Open House

October 23, 1999 marked the Orange County Fire Training Center's open house. The Monroe Fire Dept. was chosen to perform a Live Burn Demonstration utilizing the Training Centers burn building (known as the 'Taxpayer'). The scenario was a first floor fire in a 3 story structure with Monroe's Tower Ladder (Truck 538) arriving first due. Firefighters entered the 3rd floor window via the bucket of the Tower Ladder, performed a search and rescued 1 trapped occupant while another crew attacked the fire. Once the victim was removed, he was brought to the ground by Truck 538's bucket and then turned over to Mobil Life ALS who transported the patient to a waiting StatFlight helicopter.
