Structure Fire Cromwell Hill Rd.

On Tuesday July 13th at approximately 2:30 pm, the Monroe Fire Dept. was dispatched to a reported Structure Fire at the intersection of Cromwell Hill Rd and Round Lake Park Rd. Responding units could immediately see a large amount of smoke coming from the area. Upon arrival Chief Michael Terracino established Command reporting heavy fire from a detatched garage which had spread into a single family residence. An aggresive interior attack was made by Monroe Firefighters, and the fire was knocked down within 20 minutes. The garage was a total loss and the house received major damage from the fire which had spread into the attic of the house and through the roof. Several of the occupants were home at the time of the fire, and 1 child was transported the Arden Hill Hospital for burns. Upon arrival, Chief Terracino requested one Ladder from South Blooming Grove and one Engine from Chester to the scene. As a precaution, a second alarm tanker assignment was also requested (consisting of one tanker each from Harriman, Lakeside, and Woodbury) but was cancelled once it was determined that area hydrants were providing a sufficient volume of water. Mt. Lodge and Woodbury were on standby in Monroe's Station 1. Monroe Fire Dept. was also assisted on the scene by Monroe Vol. Ambulance and New York State Police. Units were back in service by 6:00 pm.
