On Saturday, December 18th at approximately 11:21 PM, the Monroe Fire Dept. was dispatched to a reported working structure fire on Gilbert St. Extension in the Village of Monroe. Upon arrival, Asst. Chief John Mcgovern established Command and advised units of a 2 1/2 story structure with heavy fire. First arriving Engine 537 laid supply line in and began attacking the fire with several handlines and a master stream. One Monroe Firefighter was transported to Arden Hill Hospital with a laceration. Monroe Command requested mutual aid from Woodbury FD for their FAST team and one Engine Harriman to the scene. Lakeside was on standby in Monroe Station 1. Monroe FD was also assisted by Monroe Ambulance, Chester Ambulance, Monroe PD, Orange County FI-14 and OC-6. Units were back in service by 5 AM.
