On Monday October 4, 1999 the Monroe Fire Dept. responded Mutual Aid to Harriman for an MVA in front of the Jehova Witness Hall on Harriman Heights Road. The MVA involved a single vehicle which had struck a utility pole. The force of the impact caused the pole to snap in 2 different places and brought down live electrical wires on the vehicle. The driver of the vehicle was extricated once the power was shutdown to the lines. Harriman Command (Chief Greg Esparo) requested one rescue Monroe to standby at the scene and Monroe Fire Police to assist in traffic control.
