On Saturday June 5, 1999 the Monroe Fire Dept. attended a large Mutual Aid drill in the South Blooming Grove Fire District. The location of the drill was at a large Convent known as Marycrest situated at the South Blooming Grove and Monroe district border. The complex is unique in that it is located at the top of a 2000' windy driveway and contains several large wood construction buildings connected by breezways. These buildings house approximately 80 - 90 nuns, some of which are infirm and require special assistance. The preplanned response for this complex includes all South Blooming Grove FD and Monroe FD units on the initial alarm, and several mutual aid pumpers/tankers. Saturdays drill simulated a multiple alarm fire at the complex and brought togeather approximately 9 Departments.
