5/15/08 Trench Rescue - Acres Rd.  Monroe FD responds to a Trench Rescue with one person trapped at a construction site on Acres Rd. The trapped victim was freed through the efforts of the Goshen/Mechanicstown/Monticello FD Trench Rescue teams. MFD
5/7/08 Structure Fire - Acres Rd.  Monroe FD responds to a 2nd alarm Structure Fire on Acres Road in Kiryas Joel. The fire occurred in a unoccupied structure. A quick and aggressive attack limited fire damage to the basement area, however the rest of the residence received severe smoke and heat damage. MFD

1/12/08 Structure Fire - Cromwell Rd.  Monroe FD responds to a 3 alarm Structure Fire in a fully involved 3 story structure. The fire occurred in a non-hydrant area and required numerous tankers from throughout southern Orange County. MFD

5/19/07 Structure Fire - Schunnemunk Street Monroe FD responds to the scene of a working structure fire with reports of possible children still trapped in the building. The fire was extinguished and there were no injuries MFD
5/16/07 Mutual Aid - Washingtonville Monroe FD responds with the ladder truck to the scene of a working structure fire. WFD
5/10/07 Mutual Aid - Structure Fire Monroe FD responds to a working structure fire in the Chester Fire District. One ladder truck was sent to the scene. CFD
5/6/07 Large Brush Fire Monroe FD responds to a large brush fire that involved over an acre of land. Mixed in the brush were car tires and aerosol cans. Monroe units operated for over an hour to contain and extinguish the fire. MFD
5/3/07 MVA Rollover  - Route 17M Monroe FD responds to a confirmed rollover with a fluid spill on Route 17M. The Vehicle struck a parked vehicle first then rolled over. See pictures. MFD

4/15/07 & 4/16/07 Severe Weather Emergency A severe weather situation consisting of torrential rains occurred on Sunday, April 15, continuing through Monday, April 16.  Between 5:17 PM and midnight on April 15, the Monroe Fire Department responded to seven calls for help directly related to the storm.  These included cellar pump-outs and other hazardous conditions. Between midnight and 7:36 PM on April 16, the department responded to an additional 16 such calls. MFD
4/7/07 Congratulations Vini Tankasali - New Chief of Department for Monroe Fire Department sworn in to office.  All the officers and members would like to acknowledge and thank outgoing Fire Chief Jeffery Mahran for his time and dedication that he has given during his term as Fire Chief from 2003 through April of 2007.  MFD

3/29/07 Mutual Aid - Cornwall - Mineral Springs Road Monroe FD responds to the scene with the brush truck and UTV for a large brush fire CFD
3/17/07 Working Structure Fire - Ryan Court Monroe FD responds to a working structure fire in the bedroom.  The fire was confined to the bedroom only.  Smoke damage was throughout the home. It should be noted that this call was originally received as an automatic alarm activation  MFD
3/13/07 Mutual Aid - Tuxedo Monroe FD responds to the scene of a double fatal motor vehicle accident involving a tractor trailer. One tanker was sent to the scene and supplied water. TFD
3/1/07 Technical Rescue Monroe FD responds to assist EMS with the removal of a patient down a steep driveway covered in heavy ice. Technical equipment including ropes, stokes basket, and other specialized equipment had to be used MFD
1/28/07 Ice Rescue - Lamplight Village Monroe FD rescues a trapped dog in broken ice in the lake MFD
1/22/07 Mutual Aid - Mountain Lodge Monroe FD supplied 1 engine and 1 tanker to the scene of a working structure fire in their district SMFD
1/1/07 Serious MVA - Hillside Terrace New Years Eve into New Years Day proved to be a busy several hours as Monroe FD responds to a Brush Fire at 10PM on New Years Eve, which was brought under control quickly. The Monroe FD was then dispatched to a serious motor vehicle accident at approximate 1AM for a pedestrian struck by a vehicle and reported to be underneath the vehicle. Medivac was requested to transport the patient to a trauma center, however had to abort their flight due to weather. The Monroe FD returned from the serious MVA when they were dispatched to another MVA involved a utility pole being cut in half MFD
2006 Monroe FD responds to 496 alarms in 2006 2006 Proves to be a busy year for Monroe FD as it finishes the year with 496 alarms. MFD
12/24/06 Structure Fire - Island View Dr Monroe FD responds to a structure fire on Christmas Eve. The fire destroyed a detached 1 1/2 story garage with multiple vehicles including snow mobiles, ATV's and a motorcycle. Exposures including trailers and a vehicle received substantial damage, however a quick response and attack limited damage to the main house. MFD
12/4/06 Structure Fire - Rt 17m Monroe FD responds to a structure fire in a two-family residence on Rt 17m. An aggressive interior attack limited damage to the room and floor of origin. MFD

9/2/05 Serious MVA Monroe FD assists Lakeside FD at a serious MVA at the intersection of Cedar Cliff and Lakes Rd. requiring extrication. LFD
8/26/05 Serious MVA Monroe FD responds to a serious MVA at the intersection of Rt 208 and Rt 17 on-ramp, requiring Medivac of one patient. MFD
8/23/05 Structure Fire Monroe FD responds to a Structure Fire in a multiple family dwelling on Lizensk Blvd. MFD
7/15/05 Standby In Quarter - Serious Traffic Congestion A serious MVA involving 3 fatalities on St. Rt. 17 in the Chester Fire District caused the highway to be shut down in both East and West directions for several hours. Due to the resulting traffic congestion in the Village of Monroe, Chief Mahran requested all available manpower to standby at their respective firehouses. The standby proved to be a wise decision as the Monroe FD responding to several alarms including a working car fire. MFD
6/29/05 Mutual Aid Structure Fire - Woodbury FD Monroe FD responds to a Structure Fire in the Woodbury Fire District at the historic Ace Farms. The main store and barn area housing thousands of chickens was heavily involved upon arrival. Monroe assisted with 1 Truck, 1 Engine, and 1 Tanker. WFD
6/22/05 Structure Fire Monroe FD responds to a Structure Fire due to a lightning strike on Hilltop Rd. MFD
6/14/05 MVA Car Vs. Pedestrian Monroe FD responds to a MVA involving a pedestrian struck and requiring Medivac for the patient. MFD
5/24/05 Structure Fire Monroe FD responds to a structure fire on Water Plant Rd. The fire began in the walls behind an outside fireplace and was contained to that area. MFD
4/24/05 Structure Fire Monroe FD responds to a structure fire in Federal Plaza. The fire was quickly extinguished in the overnight hours by an automatic fire suppression system, saving serious damage to the strip mall. MFD
4/22/05 Brush Fire Monroe FD responds to a brush fire on Stair Way Rd. The fire extended to a difficult to reach over hanging cliff and required some technical skills to extinguish. MFD

3/10/05 Mutual Aid Structure Fire - Woodbury Monroe FD responds with their FAST Team to a Working Structure Fire on Marigold Dr. in the Woodbury Fire District. Monroe Firefighters assisted with overhaul operations in addition to providing a rapid intervention crew. WFD
3/8/05 MVA - Lakes Rd. and High St. Monroe FD responds to a an MVA requiring the extrication of a victim at the intersection of Lakes Rd. and High St. MFD
2/20/05 MVA - St. Rt. 17 West Monroe FD responds to a serious MVA on St. Rt. 17 West requiring the extrication of a victim. The incident occurred during a snow storm which made operating conditions extremely difficult. MFD
