8/19/00 MVA Rt. 17 West Exit 129
On Saturday August 19, 2000 at approximately 4:10 pm the Monroe Fire Dept. was dispatched to a reported roll-over MVA with fire. The incident occurred on Rt. 17 Westbound in the area of exit 129 (Town of Blooming Grove). Upon arrival, Monroe Chiefs found a seriously damaged car with 1 critically injured patient and notified County Fire Control that the accident was in the South Blooming Grove Fire District. First unit on scene (Engine 536) extinguished the vehicle fire and set up a landing zone for a Stat-Flite helicopter. The patient who had reportedly been ejected succumbed to his injuries.
Monroe assisted SBGFD with 2 Engines and 1 Rescue along with Monroe Ambulance and Mobile Life Paramedics. Monroe units were back in service by 5:30PM.
