At approximately 1:45PM on Monday April 19th,the Monroe Fire Dept. responded Mutual
Aid to the South Blooming Grove Fire District for a large Brush Fire on Peddler Hill Rd. South
Blooming Grove Car 1 initially requested 1 Engine from Monroe. The scene of the fire was
between Peddler Hill Rd. and the Rolling Hills Condominium complex. First arriving units found
a rapidly spreading brush fire on the side of the mountain. Due to the dry conditions, warm weather,
high winds, and steep inclines, multiple mutual aid departments were called to assist. Monroe
Fire Dept. Chief Jeffrey J. Mahran assisted at the scene as Incident Command, and Monroe FD 2nd Assistant Chief Matt
Imperio assisted as Operations. Monroe FD responded additionally with
Brush Truck M539 and Engine 537. Mutual aid was requested to the scene in the form of Tankers,
Brush Trucks, and Engines from Harriman, Lakeside, Chester, Woodbury, Washingtonville,
Salisbury Mills, Tuxedo and Cornwall Fire Dept's. Goshen FD provided Standby coverage in Monroe.
Monroe Unit's returned to quarters at 8:30PM
