On Saturday, July 5th, at approximately 12:40PM, the Monroe Fire Dept. was dispatched for 1 Engine
with manpower to a working structure fire in the Salisbury Mills Fire District. The Salisbury Mills
FD was working to extinguish a fire which had begun in an outside propane tank and had extended into
a home on Wyngate Drive. The home was a large single familiy residence (approximately 3600 Square Feet)
with fire taking hold of the 2nd floor and attic/roof area. Extensive Mutual Aid was required
due to the excessive heat on the 4th of July weekend. Temperatures were in the mid 90's while firefighters
were extinguishing the fire. Monroe Engine 543 responded with 8 firefighters and were back in service by 1600 hours.
