This single family dwelling fire occurred in frigid temperatures during the Winter of 94. Located in a non-hydrant area of town, tankers from Harriman, Lakeside, and Woodbury were requested to the scene. Fire was caused by homeowner attempting to thaw out frozen pipes with a propane torch. All residents escaped unharmed, but several pets perished in the fire. South Blooming Grove Fire Dept. was on standby in Monroe.
